Milton Bradley is the Kanye West of baseball.

As in, both are awesome, both are assholes, and both make zero apologies for being said asshole.  Everyone tries to hate them because, hey, the media says its ok to hate them.  Kind of like a reverse Peyton Manning/LeBron James thing.  The media takes something insignificant and makes it a huge headline, and then they take zero responsibility for their actions.  It’s like when a little kid keeps pulling the dog’s tail.  Eventually, the dog is going to bite the shit out of the kid.  So don’t come crying to me about the big, mean dog when you’re the stupid fucker who antagonized him in the first place.

Milton Bradley is a jerk.  This isn’t really going to change anytime soon, so why the fuck are we poking him in the ribs?  Eventually, he’s going to get pissed off because we’re not treating him fairly, and then the media will say he’s overly sensitive, and then they’ll go back to treating everyone who isn’t Milton Bradley in the same way.  It’s a vicious cycle that is ok with zero accountability.

Eventually, Milton will say something dumb.  Then he’ll be thrown under the bus by local radio shows and whats left of the Seattle area newspapers.  Everyone will act super surprised, like they can’t believe Milton Bradley said something controversial.  Really?  You’re a douche if you’re shocked he said that.

Take today, for example.  He spoke with the New York Times, and said this:

Two years ago, I played, and I was good.  I go to Chicago, not good. I’ve been good my whole career. So, obviously, it was something with Chicago, not me.

[There was] Just no communication, I never hit more than 22 homers in my career, and all of a sudden I get to Chicago and they expect me to hit 30. It doesn’t make sense. History tells you I’m not going to hit that many. Just a lot of things that try to make me a player I’m not.

How is this even newsworthy?  Milton Bradley is who he is.  Let’s not make him some saint.  And lets not completely overreact when he awesomely blasts his former team.  So Milton, keep doin’ what you do.  You’re an asshole, and just like Kanye, I love you for it and wouldn’t have it any other way.

They are who we thought they were!

I agree 1000%, the guy is a pud and always will be. So where’s the story? ignore his tired butt and let him be the mediocre ball player he is. Watching his below the Mendoza line hitting last season was tiring. have fun in rainy seattle, your personality will match the weather

dude, did you even read my article? i think milton bradley is awesome. and he hit .257 last year which is much higher than the Mendoza line. also, the state of Illinois averages more rainfall per year than the state of Washington. so, yeah. wrong twice.

  3. promajaneck says:

wow, sorry kyle. I didn’t realize you were a jerk too.

    • Kyle says:

haha, really? you must not read this blog a lot.

First off, the name of the blog is KyleRancourt.com. Anyone who is egotistical enough to name their blog after themselves has to be at least 74.3% asshole. Secondly, I wasn’t that big of a jerk to you. I just wonder why you even took the time and effort to post a comment if you didn’t read the blog post. I mean, it’s pretty clear I’m fond of Milton Bradley, and I see that you live in Chicago so you don’t like him, but why be a troll? I never said he wasn’t good (he is) and I never said anything about not liking the fact that he’s a jerk (i love it). The fact that everyone assumes Seattle is the rainiest city in America drives me nuts, because it’s simply not true. Seattle is a beautiful city that gets rain, but wasn’t even in the Top 30 of highest average annual rainfall.

So basically, I wasn’t really being a jerk, I was just pointing out the multiple mistakes in your flawed logic. That’s not being a jerk, that’s just saving you the time and embarassment from being ridiculed throughout your travels by basing your opinion off of misinformation.

    Wow, who’s the tool?

    • Kyle says:

I don’t see any reason to pile on or resort to name calling. He wasn’t being overly rude or anything, he was just very flawed in his logic and I felt the need to point it out.

  5. Don Fowler says:

I disagree. Name calling and assholeness are in my nature.

    • Kyle says:

name calling is juvenille and often goes hand in hand with douchebaggery, though. thats why i’d rather point out his flaws than simply say “what a tool” or call him gay/a douche. being an asshole has nothing to do with it, really.
