Night @ the Movies.

First of all, this is the first book I ever remember reading more than once.  It might be my favorite book of all time, and when I saw the previews, I was so excited that I didn’t know what to do with myself.

For anyone who has ever been a lonely kid, this movie is for you.  Your emotions will flow, and the tears might as well.  You feel lonely, sad, happy, warm, scared, and a few more emotions all during this movie.  I really enjoyed it, and it took me back to when my younger brother and I would make forts in our bedroom.  We’d tuck sheets and blankets into the top bunk of our bunk beds, and make sure that my sisters weren’t allowed inside.  Then we’d throw down pillows on the carpet because, after all, the carpet was hot lava.

I’m fairly sure everyone played this game, so it’s not like we were special or anything.  But when he does it for like 5 minutes, it completely disarms you and takes you back to a place where we had no worries, no cares, and everything was simple.  That’s the greatest thing about this movie.  It makes you, if only for a few hours, forget about bills, relationship trouble, school, work, and the neighbors who have sex really loudly.  It is a movie not really for kids now, but for the kid in all of us adults.

The movie has some slightly scary parts that would absolutely frighten a 7-year-old child.  So watch it with caution if you have a kid with you.  But otherwise, enjoy a great film about a great but simple story from one of the most beloved books of all time.  And I’m definitely buying this movie.

Night @ the Movies.

Gerard Butler plays a genius father who watches his wife and daughter get raped and murdered by two burglars.  Then Jamie Foxx, as a young and cocky lawyer, makes a plea deal where one of the men testifies against the other, sending one to death row, and one to prison for a measly 3-5 years.  Obviously, this is vastly upsetting to Gerard’s character.

What ensues is a bunch of awesome deaths, Gerard Butler turning into a crazy vengeful serial-killer in a jail cell, Jamie Foxx having to question everything he’s ever done, and some more awesome deaths.

The story isn’t super complex or anything, but it’s still pretty sweet.  Other than a somewhat unsatisfying ending to the movie, I really enjoyed watching this film.  So I’ll probably end up buying it, but I’ll wait for it to go on sale.  Very entertaining movie in which your brain need not apply.  So if you’re looking for an action-thriller that has cool explosions and Gerard Butler semi-nude, then this movie is for you.

8.5 out of 10.

Night @ the Movies.

First of all, this movie has so many people who have been lead or supporting actors in other big movies that I don’t know what to do with myself.  Seriously.  Let’s go over the list of people who appear in this movie:
