Night @ the Movies.

First of all, this is the first book I ever remember reading more than once.  It might be my favorite book of all time, and when I saw the previews, I was so excited that I didn’t know what to do with myself.

For anyone who has ever been a lonely kid, this movie is for you.  Your emotions will flow, and the tears might as well.  You feel lonely, sad, happy, warm, scared, and a few more emotions all during this movie.  I really enjoyed it, and it took me back to when my younger brother and I would make forts in our bedroom.  We’d tuck sheets and blankets into the top bunk of our bunk beds, and make sure that my sisters weren’t allowed inside.  Then we’d throw down pillows on the carpet because, after all, the carpet was hot lava.

I’m fairly sure everyone played this game, so it’s not like we were special or anything.  But when he does it for like 5 minutes, it completely disarms you and takes you back to a place where we had no worries, no cares, and everything was simple.  That’s the greatest thing about this movie.  It makes you, if only for a few hours, forget about bills, relationship trouble, school, work, and the neighbors who have sex really loudly.  It is a movie not really for kids now, but for the kid in all of us adults.

The movie has some slightly scary parts that would absolutely frighten a 7-year-old child.  So watch it with caution if you have a kid with you.  But otherwise, enjoy a great film about a great but simple story from one of the most beloved books of all time.  And I’m definitely buying this movie.
