Christopher Nolan is a genius. This we know already. I mean, with films like Memento, The Prestige, Batman Begins, and The Dark Knight under your belt, the genius label is basically a given. But there has been some breaking news that concerns perhaps the two biggest superheroes of all time:
Superman and Batman.

Nolan has confirmed two things regarding the Man of Steel and the Caped Crusader, and both of them come as a bit of a surprise. First, the next Batman movie will be the final movie in an apparent trilogy. No, Nolan does not wish to take this franchise and run with it. Rather, he wants to “complete his story” by ending the trilogy. Does this mean Bruce Wayne is done being Batman? Does this mean his secret identity will be revealed? Does this mean — gasp — Batman will die?
We don’t know. But we do know the trilogy is coming to a close, so any and all of these are possibilities. How in the hell are they going to one-up The Dark Knight? Yikes, have fun with that mission.
The other thing Nolan confirmed was that he will be doing yet another reboot of a historic superhero when he tells his version of the Superman story. Much like Batman Begins, he will take Clark Kent in a completely different direction than past directors in hopes to revitalize the once proud franchise.
I’m not sure everyone is as excited as they should be for this. Christopher Nolan, along with his brother Jonathan and David Goyer, will be taking over the reigns as the men behind the reboot of Superman. That’s like saying porn is now free, and you don’t need a credit card. That mind-blowing.
Don’t hold your breath, however. A Superman movie isn’t slated to hit theaters until sometime around 2013, with no word on the release date of the final Batman movie, either. Is it possible to buy tickets 3 years in advance?
